Gaylen Clark Bristol

Gaylen Clark Bristol of Dowling passed away on Friday March 2, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. He was born in Johnston Township on April 8, 1921 to Edgar Earl and Dorothy Dane (Clark) Bristol. He attended Hastings area schools and graduated from Hastings High School in 1939. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII from 1945 through 1946. He farmed in his early years until 1955 and then started to work at E. W. Bliss until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid hunter, hunting every year since he was 14. He also was an avid fisherman and loved camping and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived his children, Jean (Ronnie) Selleck of Hastings, Linda (Art Miller) Bristol of Dowling and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Bruce of Hastings; grandchildren, Jeffery, Andrew, Rodney, Sandra, Wayne, Lori, Heather, Scott, Bradley, Jennifer and Stacey; great-grandchildren, Brett, Serena, Matthew, Mitchell, Collin, Ethan, Eliot, Kaitlyn, Scotty, Joshua, Alexis, Anthony, Madelynn, Gillian, Ayden, Brennen, Lauren, Morgan, Bayleigh and Natalie. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jennett; son, Gary; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Isabella; sister, Marilyn Lindberg. Gaylen is at the Lauer Family Funeral Homes-Wren Chapel 1401 N. Broadway in Hastings where his family will receive friends on Sunday March 4, 2012 from 3-5 PM. Services will be on Monday March 5, 2012 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Wordon officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Great Lakes Hospice or Battle Creek VA.
